Lincoln City Women host The New Saints Ladies this Sunday at Ashby Avenue.
TNS sit second in the league, six points and one game ahead of the Imps.
TNS beat Leicester United 6-1 mid-week, having beaten them 6-3 in the League Cup in August.
They have also beaten Bedworth United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sporting Khalsa so far this season. The only team to have taken points from TNS so far is Birmingham & West Midlands, who won 5-1 in the opening weekend of the season.
Lincoln beat B&WM 3-0 two weeks ago and have also taken points from Bedworth this season. However, the team has suffered defeats against Wolves and Leicester.
Lincoln (then Nettleham Ladies) hosted TNS the first week of the 2018-19 season and came away with a comfortable 4-1 victory. Four first-half goals made up for a lacklustre second half to the game.
In the return fixture, Lincoln took another three points with a tightly fought 1-0 victory over the Welsh border. In windy conditions, Katy Thornley gave Lincoln the lead just after the second half began and, despite TNS showing more promise than in their trip to Mulsanne Park, they couldn’t pull the game back.
Who to watch
Kimberly Bebbington is TNS’ top goalscorer so far this season, having found the back of the net five times in six appearances. Last season Bebbington scored just eight, the third most in the team.
TNS’ Emily Ridge was the top goalscorer for the team last season, ranking seventh on goals scored in the FAWNL Midlands Division. Ridge scored one goal fewer than Lincoln’s top scorer, Abbie Murrell, finding the back of the net 15 times to Murrell’s 16.
Ridge has made just one appearance so far this season, playing for 25 minutes in their first game, where the team lost 5-1 to Birmingham and West Midlands.
The game will take place at Ashby Avenue at 2pm on Sunday 22nd.
